Great modem if you dont have Hyper Threading Technology  |
I purchased this modem to build into my new PC. The specification is good, and its made by a well known and reputable manufacturer. However... I installed it (nice and easy) and the drivers etc and all seamed fine, modem diagnostics reported it as fine. But it would NOT hold a connection, just disconnect about 2-4 seconds after connecting. I later found out (after no help from Creative) that this modem does not work if your PC has a Pentium 4 with HT Technology. Disabling HT makes it work however but this isnt ideal or adequite.A good product, but not if you have HT.

I purchased the modem to replace a non-voice modem so the dialing function in ACT! could be used. It installed with no problems and functions perfectly every time. Recommended to both professional IT users and the home enthusiast.

I have bought a number of cheep modems over the years for myself and other users, mistakenly thinking there was not much difference between a high price and low price modem.
How wrong I was, As soon as I started using the Modem Blaster I noticed an immediate speed increase in downloading web pages.
Connection time is quite impressive as well as it caches your last dial in connection details to your ISP making reconnecting much quicker.
On board hardware compression actually works very well although download of graphics was not greatly increased as they are normally highly compressed anyway. I tried out a few connection speed testing sites and the results were very good.
As this Modem supports V92 its a shame I was not able to connect to an ISP that uses this protocol to be able to really see what the modem was capable of.
